The Beauty Bush & The Spring Blossom

This body of work toys with the Foucauldian notion that Sadomasochism functions as a symbolic metaphor for all social relations, especially gender relations. While Sadomasochism is highly stigmatized and is commonly viewed as an extreme rather than a normal kind of behavior, its dynamics are often found in the social psychology of our contemporary societies. Patriarchy, male domination, and hierarchal relations bare an undeniably intimate resemblance to those of Sadomasochism.

My work aims to highlight the fact that Sadomasochism and relationships of dominance and submission go far beyond sexuality and into our everyday social relations.
